Hey everyone, sorry for the super long delay between posts but I assure you we are alive and well. We began work on a new record titled Circumstantial Chemistry that we are all really super stoked about. We have a shit ton of songs to choose to put on it and I am sure it will be an ordeal to see what makes the cut. Things have been a bit shakey since I moved to Chicago but we are finding a way to make it work. We can’t play or practice as much as we like to, but things are still moving on. We are now coming out of a dry spell of not playing shows and are hitting the midwest for a round of shows in mid march as well as april too. We urge you to please support us at the shows as our show appearences are becoming few and far between. We cannot wait to get back on the road and we are hoping to hell that our trusty 84 Dodge Van is up to the challenge. We’ll seeya and heres to 2008!

A lot is bustling in D-Ships land… We are getting ready to dust off our trusty 84 Dodge Van for a Midwest swing thru in August. We will be hitting the lovely states of Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin.. If you are in those areas please come out and check out the shows. We are gearing up to record our follow up to Seeds of Devastation which we are pleased to say will commence in October under the watchful eye of our former touring partner Jay Bennett (ex Wilco fame).. We are big fans of Jay’s music but also his production. We are confident with his help we will be able to make a great record. We can’t wait to get this started! More Details will be announced later..

April 15th, 2007 by LarsGreetings from the wake of probably another Iowa City Ice Storm…YIKES…. Sorry for the lack of updates but I would just like to say we are super stoked for our upcoming SXSW performances and hope that you guys can make it out! We could use all the support we can get, so pack it up and head down to Austin and you know there is like a couple other bands playing too I think? You know the drill, music, beers, bbq, sunshine, and tons of hot tunes! Our showcase is going on Thursday March 15th at BD Rileys on 6th St. at 10pm SHARP. We are also playing Friday March 16th at the Berklee School of Music day party tribute to Pete Townshend. We are learning one of his tunes and it should be killer. Also Friday night we are invited to play the Beautiful Day PR show alongside our pals These United States, Shame Train, and Envy Corps. Times for those deals are yet to be determined. We would love to see some hometown love as we play with our friends from LA The Broken West (Merge Records). We will be playing with them all weekend in Columbia, Iowa City, and Rock Island. Seeya SOON!
February 27th, 2007 by LarsThanks to everyone who came out to our show at the Empty Bottle in Chicago and The Triple Rock in Minneapolis this past weekend. We had a blast and hope to return to both cities soon enough. Highlights include getting mugged 4 blocks away from the Bottle and eating a Po Boy at the Triple Rock and melting some faces (at least we hope!) We got a couple new press clips from the great music site The Tripwire and Newcity Chicago, they are posted in our press section.
January 14th, 2007 by LarsSorry for the lack of updates! We’ve been laying low for the most part, but we are making some midwest jaunts in the next few months leading to a performance at SXSW. We are honored to be playing such a great music festival and hope to melt some faces while drinking lone star and eating tons of BBQ.. We are hooking up with some bands in the next few months like Backyard Tire Fire in Feb, Merge Records band The Broken West in early March, and hopefully our friend Cameron McGill in late March. We hope to cover a lot of the midwest. If you are interested in bringing us to your town please contact us at deathships@gmail.com
Cheers to a great 2007!
As always please pick up Seeds of Devastation directly from us, Insound, Miles of Music, or Itunes!

November 27th, 2006 by LarsDEATH SHIPS WEST COAST DATES POSTED! / TOUR JOURNAL AT DAYTROTTER.COM! 5/5 STAR REVIEW IN NEW AP!
Hey friends we are receiving word about things daily and we want to keep everyone well informed. Our tour dates for the west coast portion with Jay Bennett are now posted in our show section. As you can see the tour is very short but sweet.. We are excited to hit a lot of the bigger west coast markets, but we hope to tour extensively on the west coast in the future. Another reminder daytrotter.com has posted the first part of our tour diary of the east coast tour with Bennett. Please check it out and learn about how killer our first tour was and how daytrotter is your new go to music site.. Also if you go now to your newstand you will be able to buy the new AP magazine november issue that has reviewed our little record seeds of devastation. Those bro’s gave us a 5/5 stars with a short but modest review next to other 5 star players like TV on the Radio and Swan Lake.. Needless to say we are flattered for the recognition and also to be lumped with bands at the caliber of TV on the Radio. As a super bonus the cover of the AP has your favorite emo goth band My Chemical Romance is on it, we havent read their article yet, but I’m sure its theatrically turd-tacular. We will seeya real soon!
November 8th, 2006 by LarsThanks Everyone! We’re Home from Tour! West Coast in Dec!
We would like to thank everyone for making this the best first tour any little band from iowa city could ever dream of. Special thanks to Jay Bennett for inviting us for this inaugural voyage which was titled the “Mystery Nights Tour Fall 06′”. We met soo many killer people that rocked out, made us food, let us crash on their floor, fed us drinks, and also partied with us. We are excited to continue touring and will hit the west coast with Bennett in December. Part one of our tour diary of the tour is up now at www.daytrotter.com, we did our best to remember every brutally honest aspect of the tour, so check it out and also while your there check out the other sweet aspects of the music site. We hope to visit the east coast and midwest again soon, we appreciate the support.

November 5th, 2006 by LarsThanks to everyone who came out and saw us at our chicago cd release with Wax on Radio. We all had a blast and it was nice to make new friends and play that wonderful Metro stage. We are now gearing up for our tour with Jay Bennett which is heading eastward with a possible stop or two at CMJ. We are also receiving word of a possible tour of the west coast in december which is tenative but most likely. in the meantime we are readjusting to the icy cold weather and getting our Van Beatrice some new snow shoes aka tires. We would also like to thank those who have bought our album and are helping us spread the word, every blog post, mp3 stream, word, email, phone call, ect helps. Local stations Krui and KUNI are rotating the record quite frequently, but call them up and tell em up and request a song. Our only semi local show until the Bennett tour is going on this friday in the quad cities with Driver of the Year (cd release) and Hockey Night at RIBCO. we’ll seeya there!
